Eric Johnson
Eric Johnson was born on October 10, 1975. The third of four children born to Vaughn and Alice Johnson, both natives of Dallas, Eric was raised in the West Dallas and Oak Cliff areas of Dallas. He attended Dallas public schools until 1983, when he received a scholarship to attend GreenhillSchool in Addison, Texas. Eric graduated from Greenhill in 1994, delivering the commencement address for his graduating class on the subject of his eleven-year experience attending a suburban, elite, college preparatory school as an African American male from the inner city. The following fall, Eric matriculated at HarvardCollege, from whence he graduated cum laude in 1998.
After graduating from college, Eric went to work for the Texas Legislature and then for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund in New York before enrolling in graduate school at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, where he studied International Relations. While at Princeton, Eric was accepted into the University of Pennsylvania Law School where he was also awarded one of four highly coveted public interest scholarships for his commitment to public service, which carried with it a two-thirds tuition award. While at Penn Law, Eric served as an Associate Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Economic Law. Eric received both his M.P.A. from Princeton and his J.D. from Penn Law in 2003, whereupon he returned to Dallas and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas.
He is now the sole owner of The Law Office of Eric L. Johnson, where he practices business and commercial law. Eric devotes roughly 50% of his time to community service, serving on several non-profit, municipal, and county boards and commissions, and volunteering with numerous community, civic, and political organizations such as the WestmorelandHeightsCommunity Center, the DallasIndependentSchool District, Dallas County Young Democrats and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas. At Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, he served on the Corporate Board and founded the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas Alumni Association. He was recently married to Nakita Garraway Johnson, and they reside in The Cedars neighborhood of Dallas.
