A Season of Giving: Athletes Who Made a Difference this Month

As the holiday season envelops us in the warmth of gratitude and joy, our Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas families have been touched by the generosity of some extraordinary individuals. This month, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing notable professional athletes give back directly to our Club kids and their families.

In the spirit of thankfulness, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to these sports heroes who are making a lasting impact on the lives of our young members.

Anthony Black, Orlando Magic player and a proud alum of Duncanville High School , supported a foodpacking event back at his roots. Anthony purchased holiday fixings and current players of Duncanville High’s basketball team packed 400 bags of kid-friendly foods that were later donated to several of our local Boys & Girls Clubs.

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys player and former Boys & Girls Club kid, showed the importance of community and giving back. This Thanksgiving season, he treated two Club kids and their familes from our Roseland and Lipscomb Clubs to a memorable grocery shopping spree. In addition, CeeDee provided gift cards to other Club kids, spreading the holiday cheer even wider. We are immensely grateful for his consistent support of BGCD.

Jourdan Lewis, cornerback of the Dallas Cowboys, hosted his 3rd annual Thanksgiving Impact Meal at the Grand Prairie Club on November 14. Kids and their families enjoyed a delightful buffet thanks to Bread Winners, while hearing about Jourdan’s upbringing and his experience as a prior Club kid. His words of encouragement were nothing short of an inspiration.

Ty Nsekeh, of the Cleveland Browns, a consistent supporter of BGCD, went above and beyond by giving away 200 turkeys to our BGCD families, ensuring that families can celebrate Thanksgiving with a delicious meal and a heart full of gratitude.

As we reflect on this season of giving, we are immensely grateful for the athletes who have made a difference in the lives of our kids. Their acts of kindness go beyond the sports arenas and touch the hearts of our community.

From all of us at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, THANK YOU for making this holiday season TRULY special.
