Will has been involved with East Dallas Boys & Girls Club as a volunteer and spends time there every week. Will is a real estate developer when he’s not volunteering with us! We sat down for a few minutes and got a glimpse of his experience as a BGCD volunteer. Here is his interview!
Why have you decided to get involved with Boys & Girls Club?
I volunteered one day and were hanging out around the Club, playing games and one of the kids came up to us and the kid came up to talk to us with so much excitement! That’s what has kept me coming back!
As a volunteer, what does a typical day look like?
I walk in and see what they need. Things can get overwhelming sometimes so I try to help where I can. I know that can sound boring but it’s what’s needed!
What is your favorite program at BGCD?
I think the foundation of the overall organization is key. How the mentors and the teachers help the kids through. I think that is the most useful part.
Do you have any hobbies and interests?
I love to cook! I’d love to teach the kids how to make some things. I’ve heard about the Kids in the Kitchen program!
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
I like birds and how they’re high up, I’d like to fly.
What was your favorite subject growing up?
I hated math and loved history!
