Introducing Future Stars: Bringing Hockey to BGCD

In an exciting collaboration with the National Hockey League (NHL), the Dallas Stars have launched Future Stars, a program aimed at introducing hockey to communities across the Metroplex.

Through this program, BGCD receives comprehensive support from Dallas Stars staff including training for our coaches, mentorship from Stars alumni and staff, and more. Ten BGCD sites now have hockey teams.

“We are super excited to bring the game of street hockey to our Club kids, many of which may not have otherwise been introduced to the sport without this program,” said DeRon Bethea, BGCD Athletics Director. “We’re truly honored to partner with the Dallas Stars and our hope is to grow the program to many more of our Clubs.”

Additionally, the Dallas Stars have revitalized the Cedar Springs gym, transforming it into a vibrant hub for youth sports and recreation in a whole new way!

The newly refurbished Cedar Springs gym now boasts a fresh coat of paint, a state-of-the-art scoreboard, and vibrant decorations, setting the stage for the Future Stars program to flourish.

We are thrilled to offer hockey to our Club kids, supporting the learning of life skills like teamwork, resilience, and discipline through sports.
